Citimprovisation – The Sounds in Between

Premiere of a Polish-Korean audiovisual project commissioned by the Korean Cultural Center in Poland (Centrum Kultury Koreańskiej).

The project is a three-part comprovisation (composition for improvisers) combined with soundscapes from two cities: Krakow and Seoul. The first two parts are the sounds of both cities, arranged in an “extended soundscape”. They play the role of specific “sound scores”, which the musicians work with in the studio – the Krakow musicians improvise with the sounds of Seoul, and the Korean musicians with the sounds of Krakow. In the third part, the “extended landscape” is composed of the sounds of both cities and all musicians improvise with this “sound score”.

Wandering the Sound(scape) is a project by Rafał Mazur, a part of his broad artistic and philosophical activity, a realization of assumptions gathered in the Listening Philosophy concept. The whole project will be presented to the audience in the form of a film with recordings of individual parts (three improvisations) and interviews with leaders of the project from both cities: Rafal Mazur and Sunjae Lee.
