An intimate and subtle dialogue between two improvisers: bassist Marcin Bożek and Japanese violist Marie Takahashi. Bożek, well-known in Poland, is an improviser, founder, and conductor of the Gdynia Improvisers Orchestra, and co-creator of the duo Olbrzym i Kurdupel. Takahashi is a composer and improviser specializing in contemporary and baroque music. The musicians met five years ago, and the bond they formed has led to this year’s release of Sadoil—a subdued album built on textured, bow-and-string sounds, highlighting all rough edges, grating tones, and rustles. We’ll immerse ourselves in this world in the last week of November during the duo’s improvised concert at Alchemia.
